Soldiers serving under Operation Hadin Kai have detained an individual suspected of collaborating with ISWAP and Boko Haram. The suspect was accused of trying to maneuver members of the Hybrid Forces into a lethal ambush near Gwoza, Borno State. The arrest occurred last Friday at the Government Secondary School displacement camp located in Gwoza Town.
Intelligence reports indicate that the suspect had been coordinating with militant groups stationed near the Mandara Mountains. Early findings suggest the individual intended to convince Hybrid Forces personnel to desert their posts and join extremist camps, a tactic meant to draw them into an area where they would be killed and stripped of their military equipment. The suspect reportedly conferred with a Boko Haram commander in the mountainous region prior to being caught.
Members of the 26 Task Force Brigade are currently detaining the suspect for additional questioning. Military officials stated that this capture highlights their ongoing commitment to breaking down extremist support channels and protecting security operations throughout the North-East.
