Demolition: Kebbi Government Pays N1.5Bn Compensation To Jega Residents
The Kebbi State Government has disbursed N1.5 billion in compensation to property owners affected by the planned construction of a dual carriageway in Jega town.
The payment, made on Tuesday, covered 236 verified individuals whose buildings are slated for demolition to accommodate the road project.
Chairman of the Compensation Committee, Alhaji Aliyu Maude, stated that beneficiaries received cheques based on the assessed value of their properties and were given a two-month notice to vacate.
Speaking at the event, the Emir of Jega, Alhaji Muhammad Arzika-Bawa, urged residents to support the project and maintain peace throughout its execution.
