Chelsea Grant United an Advantage in the Osimhen Pursuit.
Chelsea have reportedly withdrawn from the race to sign highly sought-after Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, giving their Premier League rivals, Manchester United, a potential advantage in securing the player.
The West London club had been heavily linked with a major move for the 26-year-old last summer, along with other prominent targets. However, a transfer to Stamford Bridge fell through after they were unable to reach an agreement on personal terms with Osimhen.
According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea has now decided to step back from their pursuit of the striker this summer, despite their interest in him last year. The report further suggests that Chelsea no longer views Osimhen as a primary target, with their interest waning despite his impressive goalscoring form in Turkey.
Enzo Maresca’s side is now reportedly focusing on exploring other options to bolster their attacking line, with Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko ranked higher on their wishlist.
Chelsea’s decision to step back from the race for Osimhen has increased the chances for Manchester United and Juventus to sign the striker this summer.
It is understood that Juventus have identified Osimhen as a perfect replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, who may depart the Serie A club after the FIFA Club World Cup, which concludes in July.
