Israeli Airstrike In Gaza Kills Hamas Spokesman
Palestinian militant group Hamas stated that an Israeli air strike on Thursday killed one of its spokesmen, Abdul Latif al-Qanou, in northern Gaza. The Israeli military accused Qanou of using social media to spread “psychological terror” and incite terrorist activities against Israel, describing him as one of Hamas’ key inciters. The military said that overnight, its army and air force carried out a strike in northern Gaza that resulted in his death, and it vowed to continue operations aimed at dismantling Hamas’ governmental and military capabilities. Hamas, meanwhile, mourned the loss of Qanou, calling the attack a “direct” strike on a tent in the Jabalia area of northern Gaza.

The ceasefire in Gaza ended on March 18, and Israel has since intensified its bombing campaign. According to the health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza, at least 855 people have been killed since then.
Among those killed in Israeli airstrikes are multiple high-ranking Hamas officials, including:
- Muhammad Qanou
- Rashid Jahjouh, head of Hamas’ internal security agency
- Essam al-Dalis, head of Hamas’ administration in Gaza
- Mahmud Abu Watfa, interior ministry head
- Salah al-Bardawil and Yasser Harb, both members of Hamas’ political bureau
Israel has confirmed targeting several of these officials, including Dalis, who was a key figure in Hamas’ political structure.
“The occupation’s targeting of the movement’s leaders and spokespersons will not break our will,” Hamas said.
